Introducing the Sidney Democrats Monthly Brunch

Hey, we’re starting something new!

Outreach in Sidney can be difficult. Folks are busy. Our committee is broke and, in this economy, so is everybody else. That’s relevant because mailings cost money and Sidney has a lot of Democrats (believe it or not).

So, we decided we’re going to start something small and see if it grows. The something we’re going to start is the Sidney Democrats Monthly Brunch.

We’re not really going to be doing much except getting together to talk. We’ll be meeting at the Trackside Diner at 9 am, where you can knosh on as much or as little as you like. Dress is informal and so are we.

Our first Brunch will take place on April 10th. We’ll do this every month and, as I said, we hope attendee numbers will grow as it becomes a regular event.

After all, we Democrats really should get better acquainted, shouldn’t we?

(Oh, and don’t worry. We’ll remind you about it when we get closer to 4/10.)

Let’s Keep Kirsten in the Senate!

Eventually, I am going to use our ActBlue account to raise money for the Sidney Democratic Committee.

Right now, though, I want to focus instead on the special election campaign efforts of our junior Senator, Kirsten Gillibrand.

Do you remember when she was first running for office, back in 2006? I don’t know how many of you know this but I got to host her visit to Sidney that summer, after the floods. She was amazing.

I’ll grant you, she’s not the best speechmaker you ever saw. But if you could ever watch her sit down with a constituent, one-on-one, to look them in the eye and listen … she’s good.

And she is good. She has worked really hard since being appointed to the Senate. She deserves to keep the job.

So, I am going to ask for your support for Senator Gillibrand. Please click here to make a donation to her campaign!

As much or as little as you can — don’t worry, I know we’re all broke. But, as President Obama proved to us in 2008, even a $5 contribution can make a big difference.
