About Us

The Sidney Town Democratic Committee is the functioning arm of the National Democratic Party here in Sidney. We are part of the larger Delaware County Democratic Committee and so all our members are also members of County Committee.

Members of the Sidney Democratic Committee are elected every two years by registered Democrats in Sidney, during primary elections in September. Each election district in Delaware County can elect two people to the town and county committee. Sidney, with seven election districts and fourteen seats on the committee, is one of the largest town delegations in the county.

The current members of the Sidney Democratic Committee are:

Dawn Rivers Baker, Chair (ED-2)
Kathy Crandall, Vice-Chair (ED-4)
Flora Loomis, Secretary (ED-3)
Sue Sklenarik, Treasurer (ED-2)

Pete Cordes (ED-1)
Judy Cordes (ED-1)
Dick Loomis (ED-3)
Kevin van der Sommen (ED-4)
Mary Barnes (ED-5)
Regina Baker (ED-5)
Peter Mann (ED-6)
Elsie Pardee (ED-6)
Alicia Pagano (ED-7)
Jeff Strassenburg (ED-7)

The Sidney Democratic Committee is responsible for recruiting and supporting Democratic candidates for local elected office, for acting as liaison between state and federal elected Democrats and our community, and for being the voice and presence for Sidney’s more progressive residents. We raise money to contribute to contested town races and act as spokespersons for the Democratic Party here in Sidney. We also represent the voice of Sidney on the Delaware County Democratic Committee.

The Sidney Democratic Committee has monthly meetings on the second Wednesday of each month, at 7 p.m., in the Sidney Civic Center Board Room. The meetings are public; all interested progressives are welcome to attend.
