Welcome!

The midterm election year of 2006 was a turning point for Democrats in a lot of ways and one of them was that Democrats in Sidney finally came out of hiding.

Now that we’ve outed ourselves and elected a Democrat to represent us in Washington (twice!), it’s time to turn our attention to matters closer to home. There is still plenty to do right here, right now, to make Sidney a better place to live and work.

And there are a lot of ways for us to move in that direction: more Democrats on the Town Council will help to expand the conversation to doing something more than just running in place. Education, health care, the local economy, renewable energy – it’s an ambitious agenda but we need to lift our voices and remind our Republican neighbors that there’s more to life than lowering taxes.

This web site is where you can find out what Democrats are doing in Sidney. You can find out which Democrats are currently in office and which offices are coming up for election. You can even learn more about running for office yourself. (Why not?) We’ll also post information about events and discussions we’ve scheduled. And you can help support the local Democratic Party by making a small contribution to help us stay active and fund our candidates.

Welcome to the online home of the Sidney Democratic Committee. I’m glad you stopped by.

Cheers!

Dawn Rivers Baker
Chair, Sidney Democratic Committee
